What it costs
Half the homes for sale in Belize are asking more than $235,000 — agents here quote USD rather than the local BZD, which is worth knowing before you compare anything — about £172k — and half less. That is 56% below the middle of the 31 islands on this site.
Renting, the middle of the market is $1,300 a month (£952).
Put together, that is a gross yield of about 6.1% — before any of the costs that make a real return smaller.
Cheaper, if the number above is the problem: Dominica (£150k), Samoa (£68k). Search every island by budget.
Costs about the same: Bahrain, Dominica, Curaçao — worth a look if you have not fixed on a place.
