Fountain Estate lies in the hills beyond Basseterre, at approximately 350 ft above sea level. Constructed on the foundations of the De Poincy Chateau (Chateau de la Montagne), which was built in the 1640’s and regarded as one of the finest houses in the Caribbean, Fountain Estate is truly a property with an amazing history. De Poincy was the first on the island to introduce sugar production, and had a road that connected the Chateau (a three level castle) to a sugar estate.
