What we are allowed to do with each dataset

This site draws on registers published by six different governments, and they do not agree with one another. This is the position dataset by dataset, including the ones where the honest answer is that nobody has established it yet.

Why a question mark is not a tick

A register being public is not the same as a licence to reuse it, and attributing a source is not the same as having permission from it. Where a government has published terms we follow them and say so; where it has not, we say that instead of guessing. None of this is legal advice, and a question mark here means the question is genuinely open — not that the answer is probably fine.

Pages that mix jurisdictions

Anything comparing islands — Compare every island, the budget search, and the cross-island passages on each living page — is a derivative work drawing on several of the sources above at once. The most restrictive term in the set governs the whole page, so those pages are limited by the strictest licence they touch, not the most generous.
